Selon Jeremy Fleming, chef de l’agence d’espionnage britannique GCHQ, le nombre d’attaques de ransomware contre des institutions britanniques a doublé au cours de la dernière année.
Des attaques lucratives et largement incontestées
Jeremy Fleming affirme que les attaques de ransomware prolifèrent parce qu’elles sont largement incontestées en plus d’être très rentables. Il a fait ces déclarations lors de la conférence Cipher Brief suite à des avertissements.
Il semblerait en effet que la Russie et la Chine abritent des gangs de ransomware. Ces groupes ciblent avec succès les entreprises et les gouvernements occidentaux. Par rapport à l’année dernière, le Royaume-Uni a connu deux fois plus d’attaques de ransomware.
Le GCHQ a refusé de donner le nombre exact d’attaques enregistrées au pays cette année ou l’année dernière. Pour les États-Unis par contre, les rapports font état de 590 millions de dollars de transactions suspectes liées aux ransomwares au cours des six premiers mois de cette année.
