Dimanche 04 avril 2021, des chercheurs britanniques ont publié une étude dans The British Journal of Criminology qui révélait qu’une vidéo pornographique sur huit était étiquetée avec un texte décrivant des actes de violence sexuelle. Pour parvenir à cette conclusion, les chercheurs se sont basés sur les contenus des trois sites pornographiques les plus populaires au Royaume-Uni : Pornhub, XVideos et XHamster.
Les chercheurs ont pris des captures d’écran sur les pages d’accueil des trois sites Web pornographiques pendant une période de six mois entre 2017 et 2018, récoltant 131 738 vidéos. Puis, ils ont analysé les titres et descriptions des vidéos pour voir si ceux-ci comprenaient des mots-clés correspondant à la définition de la violence sexuelle par l’Organisation mondiale de la santé.
